Meet Dr Bruno Gomes

Dr Bruno Gomes is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip, knee and deformity correction surgery.

Dr Gomes grew up in Sydney and completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney in 1999. He moved to Newcastle for internship, and subsequently completed his orthopaedic specialty training through the Newcastle program.

After finishing his specialty training, Dr Gomes further developed his skills by completing two prestigious fellowships:

• Limb reconstruction and deformity correction at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne
• Hip and knee joint replacement surgery at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada

Upon returning from fellowship he set up practice in Newcastle. He has recently moved to newly renovated rooms in Charlestown.

Dr Gomes believes in the importance of using evidence based treatments for his patients. He ensures that his knowledge and skills remain up to date and in line with best practice. He has examined for the Royal Australian College of Surgeon’s training examinations and has contributed to research published in peer reviewed medical journals.
