Dr David Edis is an Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon.
David’s main interest is in the management of adult spinal conditions. He has a particular expertise in less invasive techniques to manage spinal deformity. David utilises mini-open lateral surgery (or OLIF) and posterior robot guided percutaneous screw placement, which can reduce blood loss and perioperative risks and recovery times for patients having spinal fusion surgery. David has extensive experience in all facets of spine surgery from simple to complex, covering cervical to lumbo-pelvic conditions. He is an active researcher and medical educator and believes in lifelong learning in clinical practice and is constantly updating his skills and helping other surgeons to update skills.
The first was a hip and knee arthroplasty fellowship at Fairfield Hospital (Supervisor: A/Prof John Ireland) and the second was in Foot and Ankle surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital (Supervisors: Drs Andrew Wines and Les Grujic). Since then Sameer set up a private practice in Campbelltown and Liverpool with a public appointment in Campbelltown Hospital. He is currently the Head of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Campbelltown Hospital. He was appointed Conjoined Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Western Sydney University.
David believes in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and works closely with primary carers, pain specialists, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, nurses and occupational therapist to achieve evidenced based contemporary care for patients with spinal conditions.
